Promotion is allowed only with moderator permission (or inside designated threads). A short, honest modmail before posting costs two minutes and functions as a safe-conduct pass; skipping it is the most common avoidable removal.
From the rules · Dev posts limited to once per developer per 30 days (or once per app for trusted devs); unqualified promos must go in the monthly megathread and you need 10 r/MacApps karma to self-promote in comments.

Headline: "AppName — one-line punchy descriptor" (prefix [OS] for open source). Use first person if you built it ("I built…") or neutral third-person for announcements. Short post (a few paragraphs, screenshots/GIFs), include Mac App Store or official site link, choose correct flair and use the PCP template, disclose your relationship in post/comments, request post approval. Tone: practical, product-focused and transparent — feature/demo + short development/update story. Value-driven app posts get upvoted; links to dubious hosts, redirects, undisclosed self-promo, or repeat spam get removed.
